SUMMARY
In my interview, I asked why they didn't like the radio because I had prior knowledge to them not listening to the radio. They don't listen to the radio because of advertisements and the music genres.
D) PRODUCTION PROCESS
E) MARKET SHARE
What is the current trend in Market Shares? What could be the reason for this trend?
The current trend in market shares for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire is a consistent market share ranging from 6% to 7%. The reason for this trend is because radio is being listened to less in the modern times due to people either not having enough time or rather watching a news or entertainment channel visually on a television or on their phone.
What is the trend over the last 15 years in Market Shares? What could be the reason for this trend?
The trend in the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's market share has been steadily on the decline from 2003 to 2019, starting originally from a high 12% going down to a 6.5%. The reason for this trend can also be related to the fact that radio isn't as sought after as before when visual technologies weren't as efficient and capable of producing a high enough resolution to give a pleasurable viewing experience; however, considering at the time radio was very accessible and convenient, it gave people during the day something to listen to while on the way to work or in their house.
Explain what has happened to the industry between the highest and lowest points of weekly audience?
The highest point of weekly audience that the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire had was in June 2017 with approximately 170,000 people tuning in. The lowest point of weekly audience that the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire had was in June 2018 with only approximately 90,000 people tuning in. The reason for this might of been the re-branding of Radio Cambridgeshire which might of changed the original flare it had for the worse which made people appreciate the show less.
